Cachexia and Muscle Wasting in Cancer Patients

Cachexia, characterized by weight loss and muscle atrophy, is a significant indicator of poor prognosis in cancer patients. Its association with anorexia and inconsistent definitions have hindered progress in treatment. Our study aims to unravel the interplay between tumor and host factors to identify new therapeutic targets for managing cachexia in cancer.

The Impact of Malnutritional Status on Survival in Elderly Hemodialysis Patients

Protein-energy wasting is a prevalent issue among geriatric patients undergoing hemodialysis in Taiwan. To better understand mortality risks, we investigated the geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI) as a predictor. Our study revealed that GNRI is a valuable tool for assessing malnutrition-inflammation status and predicting overall mortality in elderly hemodialysis patients.
